ANTONELLO FARULLI
Teacher at various Music Academies and President of ESTA Italia European String Teachers Association.

Student of Piero Farulli, viola of the legendary Quartetto Italiano and, later, of Mazumi Tanamura and Nobuko Imai, is one of the most well known violists in Italy and abroad.

Member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and first viola of the Solisti Veneti, he played an important concert activity that brought him to the most important halls in the world. He has also passionately developed his role as mentor of some of the best young instrumentalists in business today and of some ensembles among which the name of the Cuarteto Casals and the Quartetto Adorno stands out.

He recorded for Dynamic, Stradivarius and Tactus. His teaching activity took him to Europe, Switzerland, the United States, China, Mexico and Colombia. Teacher at the Internationale Sommerakademie at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, he has been, on several occasions, tutor at the Mahler Jugend Orchester, and at the Academy of the Mozart Orchestra.

For some years he has been part of the teaching staff of the Royal College of Music in London. After teaching string quartet for a decade at the prestigious Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, he is today the holder of the Chair of Viola and String Quartet at the worldwide recognized Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola. He is also the author of the text “La viola del Pensiero” and artistic director of the Sesto Rocchi Festival, the first in Italy dedicated to professional and non-professional musicians of all ages.

For 18 years he was Director of the European Quartet Academy within the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy), a project of the Fiesole School of Music to perfect and promote young chamber music groups.

He is currently President of ESTA Italia European String Teachers Association. He collaborates continuously with the Treccani Institute of The Italian Encyclopaedia.
